Vista Access for Mac Users

Created by Andrew Oakes, Modified on Mon, 13 Jan at 1:43 PM by Spencer Ross

Since the Vista application can not be installed on Mac computers, an alternative means for logging in is required.

Mac users will need both an AVD login, and a Trimble ID, however, they only need one vista login (unless SQL access is a requirement). This can be achieved as follows:

  • Create a new AVD login through cascade.viewpoint.cloud. This is used to get remote access to the Vista application
  • Create a Vista user associated with the new AVD login.
  • Migrate that Vista user to a Trimble ID. This disassociates the AVD login with the Vista account, but the AVD login remains.

Now when the user logs in, they must

  • first open the remote desktop application, or navigate to https://client.wvd.microsoft.com/arm/webclient/ and log in to the AVD account.
  • Then in AVD, open the vista application. Connect to the local address {companycode}d1
  • Select login with Viewpoint ID
  • login with the migrated trimble account

This allows Mac users to log in without installing the Vista application.
