[IM] How to Import a Data File

Created by Crystal Millington, Modified on Fri, 26 Dec at 3:33 PM by Crystal Millington

You can import a data file to upload data into a related Vista™ form. The system creates a temporary work file to transfer data from third-party software. You can review and edit this work file before uploading the data into Vista.

Prerequisites: An import template must be set up for the type of data you are importing.

Steps to Import Data

  1. ImportID: Enter a unique ID to identify this import.

  2. Template: Enter the import template or press F4 to select from a list.

    • Note: Make sure the template matches the type of data being imported (see IM Template for details).

  3. Import File: Enter the file location of the data to import.

  4. Starting Line Number (optional): Enter a starting line or use the default.

  5. Click Execute to start the import.

As the import runs, the Import Results box shows progress. If errors occur, they are displayed, and the import is paused. You must fix any errors before completing the import.

Note on Validation: Imported data may bypass some checks that Vista performs during manual entry. For example, warnings about exceeding a customer’s credit limit may not appear during import.
