[VA] How to Set Up Attachment Type Security

Created by Crystal Millington, Modified on Mon, 29 Dec at 2:43 PM by Crystal Millington

Sensitive documents, such as paycheck stubs, can be restricted so only authorized users can access them.

Steps

  1. Identify Attachment Types

    • Determine which Attachment Types (AT) require restricted access. Only ATs marked as Secured can have security applied.

    • Open DM Attachment Types and ensure the Secured box is checked for the relevant ATs.

  2. Set Up Security Groups (Optional)

    • Open VA Security Groups if you plan to use group-level security.

  3. Assign Security

    • Open VA Attachment Type Security.

    • In the Attachment Type field, select a specific AT using F4, or leave blank to apply access to all secured ATs.

    • Choose a specific Company Number or Across All Companies for global access.

    • Select whether the security applies to a User or Security Group.

    • Click Refresh.

    • Set the security level:

      • 0 – Allowed

      • 1 – None

      • 2 – Denied (user-level only)

    • Click Apply to save changes.

Only users or groups granted access will now be able to open attachments with the secured Attachment Type.
