  1. On the HR Resource Benefits form, select Initialize Benefit Group from the File menu. The HR Benefit Initialization form opens. This form can also be accessed from the HR module's Programs folder.

2. In the Resource # field, press F4 to select the resource for which to initialize a group a benefits.

3. In the Benefit Group field, press F4 to select the benefit group from which to initialize benefits for this employee.

4. In the Effective Date field, enter the date that these benefits take effect for this resource.

5. Click Initialize. The initialization process adds a record to the resource for each benefit code defined in the group and sets up all associated deductions, liabilities, and earnings codes defined for the benefit. The ‘Update PR’ flag for each benefit is set based on the setting defined for the benefit in the HR Benefit Codes form.

6. Once initialization is complete, a confirmation message displays. If you click Yes, the form remains active, allowing you to specify another resource and group to initialize.
Note: If initialization encounters one or more benefit codes containing earnings, deduction, or liability codes that already exist for the resource, a warning displays and the indicated benefit codes are not initialized. All other benefit codes within the benefit group will be added for the resource.
